Music
The Beat Goes On
I have been playing music and writing songs for over 45 years. I have extensive music business experience that I use these days to help promote performing songwriters in the Northwest, and in branding and marketing my musical and non-musical clients. Music has changed a lot since I was a kid, and in some ways, not for the better. It is getting tougher and tougher to make a buck or even get folks to come out to support local music. My biggest passion in life is to find new and inventive ways, not to make us rock stars, but to promote the idea that every musician and songwriter is important right now. And although they might not reach a zillion people or make the cover of the Rolling Stone, they have the power to transform the lives of those who hear them. This needs to be encouraged.
Besides continuing to play as a sideman myself, I help produce benefit concerts, such as the annual Winterfolk at the Alberta Rose, and the Riverfolk Benefit at the Astoria Performing Arts Center.
